Why the second step: multi-factor authentication is required for anyone reaching customer information under the FTC Safeguards Rule (16 CFR §314.4(c)(5)). It is not optional and it cannot be turned off.
Your file is open.
Two things are waiting on you. Everything else is with us.
Federal & 3 states
MD resident · VA and PA non-resident
Two documents outstanding
The rental 1099-MISC from Keystone Property Group, and your Q4 mileage log. Nothing else is holding the return up.
A file that stays open all year is a file nobody has to reconstruct in April.
Documents
Eleven of thirteen in. We tell you exactly what is missing — never “send everything.”
How your documents are held. Encrypted in transit and at rest, scanned for malware on upload, and visible only to you and the staff assigned to your file. Every open, download and share is logged. We keep what the law requires us to keep and dispose of the rest — the Safeguards Rule sets a two-year outside limit on customer information no longer needed.
One signature, and we file.
The IRS requires us to prove it was really you. That is the identity check below — not a credit application, and it does not affect your credit.
Which of these lenders held a mortgage in your name?
Generated from your credit file. Pick the correct answer — or “none of these,” which is sometimes right.
You get three attempts. If the questions do not work — and for some people they never do — we switch you to a handwritten signature and nothing is lost.
What we keep. IRS Publication 1345 requires the signed form, the date and time, your IP address, the login used, the identity-verification result and the signature method, held in a tamper-proof record for three years from the later of the due date or the date the IRS received the return. The app records all of it automatically.
Your return is prepared.
Read it, ask about anything on it, then sign. Nothing is filed until you say so.
Three things changed from last year
Sample figures for design purposes only. A prepared return in this app is a read-only copy of what the firm filed; the app does not compute tax.

$1,240.00 due
Due 15 September. Pay from the app, or set the file to pay automatically when work is approved.
Authorizes automatic bank transfer when you approve and sign Form 8879, so tax e-filing is never delayed.
Paying by card adds a processing fee, shown before you confirm and only where surcharging is lawful in your state. Bank transfer never carries one — which is why it is the default here.
Card details are entered on the processor's own hosted page and never touch Pivot Aide systems — the arrangement that keeps the firm in the lightest PCI category.
Updates
What changed on your file, plus the deadlines and rule changes that actually touch you. Never a newsletter blast.
Every notification is something on your file or a rule that changes your number. You can turn any of it off, and nothing here is marketing dressed as an alert.
What the firm sees.
The client app is only half the product. The other half is the board that keeps ninety files moving without anyone remembering to chase.
The three things that actually matter
Not a tax engine
The app is the custody, exchange and relationship layer — files, messages, signatures, answers and money. The return is prepared in the firm's software by a person.
Signing is the regulated bit
Remote signing of Form 8879 needs knowledge-based identity verification, a three-attempt limit, a fallback to wet signature, and a tamper-proof three-year evidence record. That is the piece to buy, not build.
Building it means owning it
A firm that runs its own portal is a financial institution under the FTC Safeguards Rule: a named Qualified Individual, written risk assessment, MFA, encryption, annual penetration testing, and a 30-day breach clock.
